FARM Rio has joined forces with One Tree Planted, an organization whose mission is to make it simple for people to give back to the environment. Our goal is to help recover endangered forest ecosystems and protect fresh water supply, and we want to make it easy for our customers to join us in this mission.
One Tree Planted has a goal of planting 400,000 trees in the Amazon by the end of next year. 65,000 trees have already been planted to date, including cacao trees and 10 other species. FARM has a goal for itself to plant at least 100,000 trees by the end of March 2020. With each purchase on our website, at other retailers and in our stores, and for every person who subscribes to our emails, we donate one tree to be planted in the Amazon rainforest. By planting trees in the Amazon rainforest, we are not only helping to provide and conserve the habitat for jaguars, birds, and hundreds of other species, we are recovering previously depleted land and enriching it’s soil with nutrients. It also provides jobs for hundreds of farming families. All of One Tree Planted’s farms are Fair Trade Certified and 25% of its farmers are women, further promoting ethical practices.
